You’re probably familiar with the phrase “oh, he likes the sound of his own voice”. Well, in addition to boring my friends with long tedious anecdotes on a regular basis, I have also been bothering the general public for many years, initially as vocalist in a series of semi-popular musical acts, and later as an onstage compere and speaker delivering talks on a variety of arcane subjects such as canned meat products or urban exploration. I also hosted a weekly comedy show on the community station Radio Reverb, as well as writing and recording sketches for the programme.
In recent years I have concentrated exclusively on voiceover work, being coached and mentored by Gary Terzza who has been continuity announcer for Channel 4 television for thirty years, undertaking accent and character voice training with Yvonne Morley at The Showreel and many voice industry courses with Gravy For The Brain. I specialise in friendly professional corporate reads, commercials that can be deep, serious and gritty or dryly humorous, and TV show ‘voice of God’ narration. And if the opportunity arises I love to do character voices, including posh aristocrats, movie trailer stereotypes and hoarse London estuary accents à la Jason Statham / Ray Winstone. My clients have come from all over the world, from the UK to the USA, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, India, Nigeria, Japan and Chile. Some of the better known names feature on the home page of this site.
I’m a professional member of the industry body for voiceover artists WoVO (World Voices Organization) and in 2018 I was nominated for Best Male TV Commercial voiceover in the One Voice Awards.
